Traditional Genital Massage for Infertility and Fertility Problems

A broad range of traditional genital massage treatments originating in Asia address infertility and fertility problems. In this post we’re going to take a look at what exactly the various options are. But let’s first start with a definition of infertility.

What is Infertility?

Infertility in people is described as the inability of a person to reproduce by natural means.

In practice it means that it’s the inability of a woman to become pregnant which can be caused by the man, woman or by both, or sometimes by other external factors such as environmental issues. Sometimes the partners are individually fertile, but the combination of partners obstructs pregnancy (which can have many causes).

There are many causes of infertility. The most common cause of female infertility is ovulatory problems, which generally manifest themselves by very irregular or absent menstrual periods. The main cause of male infertility is low semen quality. In men who have the necessary reproductive organs to procreate, infertility can be caused by low sperm count due to endocrine problems, drugs, radiation, or infection.

There may also be testicular malformations, ovarian fallopian tube dysfunctions, hormone imbalances, DNA issues, anti-sperm antibodies, or blockages of the man’s duct system obstructing a healthy functioning, to name some causes.

Although many fertility issues can be treated through surgery or fertility medication, some may be indefinite. In general, about twenty percent of infertile couples have unexplained infertility, that is, not caused by ovulatory problems, poor semen quality, physiological dysfunctions, or anatomical malformations, and such.

In these cases, it may be that there are other underlying issues that make it difficult to have a healthy sexual “performance” and have children, such as erectile dysfunctions, low libido, poor blood supply to the womb, or orgasmic disorders, which may have emotional, stress-induced or trauma-induced causes which result in physical blockages. As such, traditional genital massage and bodywork may be the last resort to try to re-stimulate the genital system.

What we’re going to do further on is list the various genital massage modalities in the following way: those for men and women, those for women only, and those for men only. You can then follow the links of the articles to a detailed description of the treatment modalities.

Concepts of Genital Massage

But before that, first a bit about the concepts of traditional genital massage in Asia: much is based on working with the genital and other internal organs and working within the abdominal cavity using acupressure and a variety of regular, well-known massage techniques.

Aims are to release muscle and tissue knots, tangles, contractions and adhesions, improving blood and lymph circulation, emotional and trauma release, physical detoxification of veins and arteries, energy balance and energy flow, and hot-cold balance, to name the most important topics.

The tools and techniques used are very diverse, mostly manual though, but in general a therapist may use all of his or her body parts, such as hands, fingers, arms, elbows, feet, knees, and such, sometimes also bringing in external tools, such as hot herbal compresses and packs, wooden sticks, props, hammer and chisel, and what not.

A bit more info on the type of genital or sexual treatments can be read in our articles An Understanding of Traditional Sensual, Sexual and Genital Treatments and Types, Aims and Benefits of Genital Massage and Bodywork Treatments.

But okay then, here below you find a (non-exhaustive) selection of the best known traditional genital (reproductive organs) massage treatments:
