Yoni Mapping is foremost therapeutic work aimed at healing emotional issues and emotionally related physical issues, which are usually related to the sexual sphere. Nevertheless, experiencing and regaining pleasure, exploring the (parts of) the Yoni, fun, and even having an orgasm naturally make part of a session and the healing process.
As already explained in our post about the preparations for a Yoni mapping treatment, the Yoni mapping practitioner will always start with a thorough introduction and enquiry, that is, they’ll try to get to the surface why you’d want to have a Yoni mapping session. This will guide the therapist as for what sort of work will or needs to be done.

In addition, the therapist will ask you about your emotional, physical, and medical background, which is very important information because it points to the type of precautions and contraindications that need to be taken into account.
The therapist will also explain what tools and techniques they use, what their approach is, and how exactly they work i.e. what the build-up of the session will entail. Related to this is the question of reaching mutual consent. It means that you’ll know and consciously agree with what will happen during the session, while it also means that the therapist will make clear and explain what their boundaries are.
Mind that during the session, if intimate moments are at hand, the therapist will typically repeatedly and explicitly again ask for consent and your feedback when touching this or that part or doing this or that manipulation.
During the actual session, the therapist will be fully clothed. Also, you will not be asked to touch the therapist’s body parts, such as the buttocks, breasts, or genitals. Yoni Mapping is a one-way touch practice, which means that you are the receiver and the therapist the giver.

The therapist will only touch you with the hands, not with the mouth or any other body part (unless a massage modality includes using the elbows, feet, or knees, and so on). Depending on the way a therapist works, they may also use certain sex toys or essentials as an aid, such as, for instance, the Yoni Egg, a vibrator, Yoni Wand, and/or massage oils or other lubricants.
You always have the right to stop or pause the session and/or leave at any time for whatever reason you feel or think it’s necessary to do so. A professional Yoni Mapping therapist will completely understand this.
Usually, other people (a friend or anyone else you trust) should/will not be present during the actual session (in the treatment room), unless you would personally want that to feel safer (and if the therapist consents to such an approach).
Within the actual Yoni mapping treatment a variety of techniques may be applied, including touching, stroking, acupressure, tapping, circling, pushing, pulling, tugging, rolling on the external parts, and, if consent is given, internal finger penetration (or using devices i.e. adult toys to do so) likewise using the massage/touch techniques just mentioned.
A session may also include the use of oils, creams, lotions, and/or lubricants, and if internal work is carried out the therapist should always use medical grade gloves for hygienic reasons.

Apart from an initial talk between you and the therapist and the inquiry part, certain activities or practices may come into play before the concrete Yoni mapping session. Think here of sex education, genital anatomy, intimacy principles, pelvic health, Breast Massage, Full Body Massage, Pelvic Massage, Abdominal Massage, breathwork, Body Mapping, Somatic Body Imaging, relaxation exercises, conscious awareness exercises, and/or meditation.
The session may vary in the positions and/or postures you will assume, such as sitting, standing, lying down on a floor mat, or on a massage table, depending on what kind of work will be done.
The types of techniques that are used depend on the goal of the session and your needs, but likewise on the proficiency of the practitioner and their approach in one or more of the modalities mentioned above. Some of the modalities may also be applied after the actual mapping. Nonetheless, most preliminary work is simply done to relax you, raise your (body) awareness level, increase your blood and energy circulation, and to make you connect deeper with your body.
During touch and/or penetration of your Yoni the therapist will work gently, manipulating or massage all the distinct parts of your external and internal Yoni (such as the labia, clitoris, G-spot, vagina, cervix, and so on) and let you absorb/react i.e. give feedback to the touch and the parts that are being touched.
It may certainly happen that you discover new feelings and sensations, or have questions about what exactly has been touched or manipulated that gives you a certain experience or feeling, and this is the moment to ask about it. The therapist is there for you to support and guide you in this exploration.
Keep in mind that each practitioner carries out a Yoni mapping session differently, depending on their training background, style, approach, and the therapeutic goal of the session.

Many different kinds of sensations may be experienced during the session, which can include (new) pleasurable feelings, new or renewed body awareness, feelings of sexual arousal, emotional release, repulsion and resistance, crying, shaking, orgasms, and energy whirls throughout the entire body, just to give some examples.
It doesn’t matter what your feelings or perceptions were or are, just discuss it with the therapist if you feel the need to do that: immediately or after the session. At any rate, after the session, you will typically be given the time to relax and discuss your experiences with the therapist.
Depending on how much progress has been made during your session or during the course of several sessions, or depending on your state of mind, reactions, and needs, the therapist may suggest working with certain other treatment modalities to resolve the blockages, tensions, sensitivities, or numbness found during the Yoni mapping activity. The therapist may also suggest additional work, simply to relax you after the actual mapping session.
With your consent this may involve, for instance, Yoni Massage, Abdominal Massage, or Pelvic Massage, or one or more of the other modalities already mentioned in this post, such as breathwork or relaxation exercises, etc.
