In this post, you’ll find an overview of Somatic Sex Coaching and Somatic Sex Education providers and therapists in the Sydney Metropolitan Area, Australia.

Somatic Sex Coaching is an embodied practice, one that approaches Sexology, Sex Therapy, and Sex Coaching from a holistic viewpoint by integrating mind-body aspects to support people in overcoming difficulties in their sex lives, and again finding joy and pleasure in life, in their relationships, and sexuality.

The realms embarked on within Somatic Sex Coaching and Education depend foremost on the issues or needs of clients (individuals or couples), which may include physical aspects of sexuality and lovemaking, intimacy and relationship issues, sexual anatomy, orgasms, masturbation, spirituality, safe sex, consent and boundaries, trauma release and sexual healing, gender and LGBTQIA+ issues, and/or sexual dysfunctions (genital pains, vaginal dryness, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, etc.), among other topics.

Although these topics are also addressed in mainstream Sex Therapy, in Somatic Sex Coaching sessions it’s not only “talking” about mental and psychological processes in relation to sex, but also actually working with bodily sensations, exercises, and hands-on experiences. In fact, the somatic sex educator (somatic sex coach or somatic sex counsellor) will try to bring mind, emotions, and body into renewed connection, intimacy, communication, and balance.

Somatic sex coaches may use methods and techniques borrowed from a range of disciplines such as Sex Therapy, Reichian Therapy, Psychotherapy, Sexological Boywork, Tantric and Taoist practices, and Somatics.

Think, for instance, of Talk Therapy, physical and mental exercises, trauma simulations, consensual touch, genital mapping, Sexual De-Armoring, massage therapy, pelvic work, Tantra Massage and Bodywork, visualizations, breathwork, vocalizations, or dance and movement.

Depending on the issue at hand, Somatic Sex Coaching sessions can be given live in-person or online, spoken, written, or through video, in a private or in a group setting, organized in the form of retreats or workshops, and they may include just one or perhaps multiple sessions.
