An enema is the rectal insertion of a fluid via the anus into the lower bowel region. It’s typically applied through a fluid solution with the help of a tube, a nozzle, or a syringe.
The administration of an enema has a broad range of applications. For instance, it may be used to relieve constipation, to cleanse the bowels before a medical examination or procedure (or before anal sex), to treat traveler’s diarrhea, to supply food, water or medicine, to reduce body temperature, as rehydration therapy, in the context of religious rituals, or as punishment, among other applications.
In addition, there are people who enjoy receiving an enema because they derive sexual pleasure from it. In this case, the activity is called Klismaphilia or Enema Play. Although Enema Play can be part of Medical Play, it’s often rather a practice enjoyed by itself and not necessarily part of more extended medical roleplaying.
Some people become sexually aroused, get erections, or even attain a sexual orgasm because of a distended belly, contractions of the abdominal muscles, pressure in the rectal area or on the perineum, or because of the internal pressure on the vagina or prostate.
Others may become aroused (or have a fetish) because of the enema equipment used, the process, or situation, or by the smell of latex, rubber, or the enema solution, and so on. Mind that some people enjoy receiving an enema, and others may enjoy giving one to another person.
In BDSM, kink, and fetish practices, enemas are sometimes also used for sadomasochistic activities, for erotic humiliation, or to bring about physical discomfort or pain.
