In this post you’ll find an overview of a range of institutes and professional associations in the Netherlands (Holland) that occupy themselves with Shiatsu Massage Therapy promotion.
Today, the distinction between community and interest groups, certification and accreditation bodies, or educational institutes and professional associations, and such, is rather thin, with one sometimes performing tasks the other does or should do, and vice versa. We have therefore made no distinction in this article between certification and accreditation organisations, member or knowledge associations, examination or professional organisations, and so on.
Here you will simply find a list of organizations that are involved in promoting Shiatsu Massage and Shiatsu Therapy. Some associations are for therapists only, others for Shiatsu therapists and consumers, others for Shiatsu educators, schools, and individual teachers, or a combination of all stakeholder groups.
Membership of an interest group or professional association can provide benefits for the Shiatsu therapist in terms of consumer confidence, health insurance coverage, liability insurance, legal aid, professional insurance, business liability, discounts on continuing education, access to specialized information and knowledge bases, and so on, depending on what exactly a specific association offers.
We don’t pretend to be complete with the selection you’ll find listed; it’s only an overview of the best known Shiatsu organizations we’ve encountered in the Netherlands.
