African Congo Massage®

The Congo Massage® was developed by Julie Lombé and is inspired by the characteristics of the African Congolese people. It’s a massage that, apart from simple relaxation, detoxifies the body and gives lots of energy.

A massage session includes intensive reflexology work on the feet with oils, and a full body treatment done both with the hands and arms and aided by several tools. The massage applies long strokes and lots of vibrations and percussions.

The Congo Massage is a mixture of several African massage techniques, such as, for instance, the Rungu Massage. The Rungu stick is used for lymphatic drainage, vibrations, pressures, percussions and stretching.

Another influence, is the Bamikélé Massage, which uses the Baham handle (or Manefaing handle), made of sacred red earth, applied by healers for its cleansing properties.

Oils and butters used during the massage treatment are typically Shea butter, Marula oil, Argan oil or Baobab seed oil.
