How to get where?
We can discuss spiritual enlightenment or self-realization forever, and “how to get there,” but in reality we haven’t got a single clue of where we want to be, or what it is we really want.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to forget all about it, because all that we think “enlightenment” is, is far from what it is. In fact, spiritual enlightenment is not. It’s not a thing. It’s a myth.
And because it is not, because it’s a concept, wishful-thinking at best, every idea about it is subsequently false. Maybe the thing that would come close to “self-realization” is a feeling or experience of “peace of mind.” Maybe that’s what we want. But then, even then — the mind is never peaceful.
So, how to get there? Get where?
Get where, if there’s nowhere to go. What if the thing we’re looking for is actually right around us, just here before the eyes. What if it’s all there, here?
Maybe the only thing that obstructs us to see it, is our “background.” This background which is all we know, all we’ve learned — and obey — all we think being true, the whole of our education and cultural mold, in fact, every single thought or mental image we have, including our precious “emotions.”
Perhaps becoming free from this background, from everything we take for real or true, and with that getting free from our fears, is the only thing that’s necessary “to do.” It’s maybe the only way of seeing what-truly-is.
But to become free from all that, one needs to be courageous, or perhaps rather desperate, and one needs to believe. One needs to make the hypothesis a practical playground.
There’s nothing to find, yet everything to lose. The state of “being lost” is the foremost prerequisite of finding ourselves. But then it will also show that our so-called “self” is a fiction. There’s no “there” or “where,” and there’s nothing to become, achieve, or get.
What we are is an extremely peaceful, functional, efficient being. Something we already are. All what hinders it to express itself is that what-we-think-we-are.
So, how to get there? Where?
