Grooming — in relation to personal care — consists of a broad variety of practices and behaviors to maintain and enhance one’s physical appearance, cleanliness, and overall presentation in social and professional situations. It involves paying proper attention to one’s clothing, skincare, hairstyling, personal hygiene, and overall body care, among other things.

Mind that regular grooming is certainly not only about aesthetics, but also plays an important role in helping to reduce the risk of infections, promote skin and hair health, and support general well-being. Therefore, grooming is also related (or a support) to healthmaxxing.

In addition, social etiquette, such as table manners and social interaction skills are considered an integral part of grooming because they likewise define one’s appearance and presentation.

Now, groommaxxing as practiced by involuntary celibate men — also called groomingmaxxing — is about meticulously applying looksmaxxing activities that maximize one’s grooming activities in order to improve one’s physical attractiveness and self-confidence, notably with the goal of having success in dating and finding a suitable romantic or sexual partner. Hence, although it consists of general grooming practices, its focus is rather targeted.

Groommaxxing is considered a form of softmaxxing, because it’s basically not about engaging in invasive and permanent changes, such as plastic surgery. For instance, surgery would fall in the hardmaxxing subcategory of looksmaxxing.

Activities of groommaxxing include hair care, skincare routines, dental hygiene, nail care, pedicures and manicures, facial care (including facial hair maintenance), body hygiene, physical exercise (appearing fit), and wearing appropriate, clean, and fashionable attire.
