Belly2Belly was created by David Cates, a Tantra teacher, trauma and sexual healer who devoted his practice to exploring sex, intimacy, and connection.

David describes Belly2Belly as an embodied partnered meditation practice that relaxes our bodies, opens our hearts, and puts all our fears to rest. In fact, one could see the practice as a bonding or cuddle session, but then one that integrates various Tantric elements and rituals such as Pranayama breathwork, gentle touch, focused sensory and conscious awareness, and intimate (non-dual) communion in a kind of Tantric Non-Sex.

In addition, Belly2Belly incorporates elements from other disciplines in its exercises, such as trauma release and recovery, psychological regression, shadow work, Neurolinguistic programming, neurobiology, verbal sharing, movement, and sound entrainment.

Bell2Belly are guided sessions, usually taught in groups (although it’s also taught privately to partnered couples, friends and family members) that focus on generating intimacy, emotional openness, and physical bonding in a emotionally safe, slow, and non-sexual way.

The group practice is done with clothing on, it requires openness in being intimate, and involves lying down with different partners of the same or different genders and sexual orientations. Touch can range from just holding hands to a hug with legs overlapping, which is all done in a consensual connection with the partner.

Nevertheless, after having learned the practice in a group training, it can of course be carried out in one’s own private life with a partner or with other family members (of all ages).

It’s claimed that the Belly2Belly practice allows people to reach higher states of awareness, stress relief and relaxation, trauma healing, deeper intimacy and enhanced relationships, a deep sense of peace and connection, mystical bliss and oneness.
