NTMaxxing is about maximizing neurotypical traits.
Mind that the definition of neurotypical is “not displaying or characterized by autistic or other neurologically atypical patterns of thought or behavior” or said otherwise: being “normal.”
In fact, involuntary celibate men or incels who suffer from severe social anxiety, awkwardness, and extreme shyness, or have other atypical behavior, recognize that it hinders them to find or maintain a relationship.
Therefore, they may try to maximize i.e., optimize neurotypical traits to appear and act normal in social situations to subsequently have better chances on success with women.
NTmaxxing activities may include:
- Observing and copying social behaviors and communication styles of people perceived as socially competent and neurotypical;
- Intentionally masking, hiding, or suppressing natural autistic or other atypical behaviors and expressions in social situations;
- Trying to conform to social norms and expectations to avoid social exclusion or ostracism;
- Engaging in medical or behavioral treatments/therapy to become as “normal” as possible.
NTmaxxing has overlap with lowinhibmaxxing, medmaxxing, and mentalmaxxing, and is a subset of therapymaxxing.
