Heightmaxxing — also written as height maxxing — is typically a male practice, considered a subcategory of looksmaxxing, and aims to maximize one’s physical height.
The idea behind heightmaxxing is that taller men are considered more attractive to women and therefore more successful in finding a romantic or sexual partner.
In fact, the practice is a consequence of height discrimination (also called heightism), which is prejudice or discrimination against people based on their height, that is, against those whose height is not within the normal range of height in a given population/culture.
Results of research have indeed revealed that taller men are more likely to be married and to have more children, and that — for instance — American women have a preference for dating taller men. Moreover, shorter or short men must earn substantially more money than taller men to be judged attractive by American women.
Studies have also found that shorter men are more likely than taller men to experience certain mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Further research suggests that these issues result from societal height discrimination rather than from the biological effects of height itself.
Therefore, there is a clear rationale for (single or involuntary celibate) men wanting to be taller, and some pursue this through heightmaxxing.
In any case, there are various activities possible in the heightmaxxing practice, which can include:
- Postural changes through specific exercises and stretches to appear taller;
- Nutrition and sleep optimization alongside bioenchancers (such as peptides, pharmaceuticals, and growth hormone) to promote natural growth for those who are still growing;
- Using accessories like wearing heels, elevator shoes (shoe lifts), or insoles for a visual height increase;
- Hardmaxxing medical procedures, such as limb-lengthening surgeries (leg-lenghtening).
