Nevertheless, there also quite some doubtful practices going on in the industry, which not only give the sector a bad name, but additionally deprive people, that is, clients and patients, from the actual health benefits that could be obtained.
Massage and bodywork practices can be distorted in various ways, and sometimes the incongruities are not that obvious. In this book, we address topics like appropriation, corruption, perversion, physical esthetics, misconceptions, mystification, hyper-specialization, and hyper-commercialization, among other phenomena.
Our goal is to lift the veil, and make both clients and professionals aware of some of the unfortunate issues playing in the business, and how that affects the quality of massage therapy and other bodywork practices.
