Both academiamaxxing and careermaxxing are about the act of aggressively improving one’s career or “job eligibility” to advance one’s social status.

In the context of male maxxing, improving one’s social status serves as a means of increasing one’s dating chances and the possibility of finding a suitable romantic or sexual partner.

In fact, it’s believed that professionally successful men are more attractive to women than those who are less accomplished professionally.

Nonetheless, academiamaxxing is rather an intellectual endeavor aimed at improving one’s social status through, for instance, trainings, studies, and/or reading books, typically through formal education.

On the other hand, careermaxxing is not necessarily connected to intellectual achievements, but rather “moving up the ladder” in whatever way.

The idea is to optimize oneself for maximum professional success, status, and salary. Moreover, apart from acquiring the necessary certifications and diplomas and/or “top jobs,” it also involves mastering interview skills, personal branding, strategic job moves, networking, and lobbying.

By the way, academiamaxxing and careermaxxing can be considered subsets of the broader activity of statusmaxxing. In addition, being academiamaxxed or careermaxxed also implies advancing in financial status, which supports moneymaxxing.
