Known in Thai as Kae Sa Luk, fruit carving is an ancient art in Thailand, and it’s thought to have it’s origin in the 14th century – during the Sukhothai dynasty. It was connected directly to the royal family, where this art was performed to beautify the plates for their royal majesties.
Nowadays, although the younger generation doesn’t seem that interested in learning and keeping the tradition alive, there’s still an increasing interest from foreigners to learn this beautiful art form.
Because of this, the demand for classes and courses is rising (little by little), and even though there are not a lot of in-depth Fruit carving classes in Thailand yet, you can always find a few options in the major cities or tourist destinations.
