Coronavirus, BCE, and CE

Yesterday, I was talking with someone about the times before the Coronavirus, the Before Corona Era (BCE), and the times we now live in, the Corona Era (CE). It’s a bit ironic, because BCE and CE normally refer to Before Common Era (or Before Christ Era) and Common Era (Christ Era or Anno Domini, AD, i.e. In the Year of our Lord).

Funny enough, I also needed to think about the abbreviation CE as is meant in Continuing Education and CEU (Continuing Education Units), something, of course, that in the case of our website applies to massage and bodywork training, and such.

But in any case, since a few days already I try to watch some movies on my PC, just as a distraction of the Corona-mess, but I don’t manage to really get into the story lines. Everything seems so fake, so sad. While watching the movies, the only thing I can think about is that they are set in a time Before Corona (BCE), a time when people still had their joys, freedom and liberties.

The experience is a bit as like the 9/11 attacks, you know, when you see movies set in New York with the Twin Towers in the background. It’s unreal. It feels fake. Other times. BCE. Sad.

Today, in the Corona Era (CE) or AC (Anno Corona) we live a completely new life. The world has changed and is still changing by the hour and your guess is as good as mine thinking about how exactly our future will look like. However, one thing is sure: whatever happens, however we rebound from COVID-19, our world will never be the same again.
